St. Valentine's Day has its roots in the USA, however, its tradition has spread all over the world. People celebrate this festive occasion with their partners or take it as an advantage to meet the potential ones. Czech girls and boys were originally sending Valentine cards to each other, but these days there are more modern ways to show liking to someone. Men ask women out, they give them sweets and huge bunches of flowers or take them for a romantic walk with a surprise in the form of a romantic dinner or a boat trip or so. In the time of the Internet a lot of men as well as women communicate with each other via websites of dating agencies and take St. Valentine`s Day as an opportunity to meet face to face with each other. They go to the mountains or meet in the city, where they spend a lovely weekend together getting to know each other much better.
As far as the established couples are concerned, men mostly give their girlfriends flowers. A big bunch of roses cheers up women of all ages and definitely give their partners credit. Young childless couples often go to a nice restaurant where they can get delicious meals with a glass of good wine and enjoy romantic atmosphere of the evening.
